Let's Shape Our Travel Future Together: The Superstition Vistas Transportation Study

Hey there, San Tan Valley folks! We want to talk about an exciting project that's set to change the way we travel in our area: The Superstition Vistas Multimodal Transportation Planning Study (or SVMTPS, to keep it short).

In simple words, the SVMTPS is all about designing a transportation network that works better for us all—whether we're walking, biking, driving, or using public transport. It's like making a master plan for how to get around, both in the next few years (by 2030) and further down the line (by 2050).

The cool part? This plan isn't being cooked up in some back office. It's based on real-life stuff like what we need right now, how our county is growing, the roads we're planning to build, our energy and water systems, our land use plans, and some clever computer modeling of how we'll likely travel in the future.

The project is focusing on a vast area of Northern Pinal County that's mostly undeveloped right now. We're talking about a big slice of land from Hawes Road in Mesa and Queen Creek, and stretching to the San Tan Mountain Regional Park in the west. On the south side, it includes the Gila River Indian Community, San Tan Valley, and Florence. The east boundary runs along State Route 79 and US 60, and in the north, it goes up to Southern Avenue in Apache Junction and Mesa.

But here's where you come in. This isn't just a project for the experts - it's for everyone who lives, works, or travels in our area. The whole study will take around 18 months, and we've divided it into five main steps. At each stage, we'll be checking in with you and others who have a stake in our area's future.
