CAC's Young Americans for Freedom Commemorate 9/11 with Flag Display and Ceremonies

911

A sea of American flags will soon paint the Central Arizona College's (CAC) Maricopa and Signal Peak Campuses, thanks to the efforts of the Young Americans for Freedom (YAF) club.

The new club has organized a '9/11: Never Forget Project' to take place on Monday, September 11, 2023. A poignant reminder of the lives lost on that tragic day, the project will display 2,977 American flags on the campuses' greens – each representing a person who died in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Residents of Pinal County are welcome to attend the ceremonies. The Maricopa Campus event (located at 17945 N. Regent Dr, Maricopa, AZ 85138, between A and B buildings) will kick off at 8 a.m. Later in the day, a ceremony at the Signal Peak Campus (8470 N. Overfield Rd., Coolidge, AZ 85128) will start at 5:30 p.m. by the I building.

In a heartfelt display of unity, both ceremonies will involve the CAC Police Department and the CAC Fire Science program. Participants and attendees will also engage in a moment of silence and prayer.

Highlighting the Signal Peak Campus ceremony, the Casa Grande Union High School JROTC color guard and PSCO Junior Cadets will present the colors. In terms of notable attendees, the Maricopa ceremony will be graced by State of Arizona Representative Teresa Martinez as the guest speaker, while the Signal Peak event will feature State of Arizona Congressman Senator TJ Shope.

This initiative isn't just about remembering the past; it's about inspiring the future. The YAF hopes to use this event to foster patriotism and pride among college students, young Americans, and the entire Pinal County community, emphasizing the importance of continually striving for freedom.

The YAF chapter is dedicated to preserving the ideals set by America's Founding Fathers and the Constitution, pushing for principles such as individual freedom, a free market, limited government, and strong national protectionism. Their vision is to cultivate conservative leadership and spread their ideals across campuses.

Rooted in a rich history, the YAF was founded in 1960 by William F. Buckley, Jr. and fellow young conservatives. Today, the organization continues its mission by engaging in various campus initiatives, such as the upcoming 9/11 project, Freedom Week, and more.
